Zimchongpa are foot soldiers based in Shol, Lhasa, supposedly descended from Gushri Khan, the Mongol ruler who held power in Tibet in the 17th century. They were given the task of carrying Banners in processions at various festivals or transporting the Dalai Lama‘s Mongolian-style tent when he travelled.
